Alright homps, question time. My Bitchin’ Camaro has these sweet Speedline wheels
With no center caps. From what I understand they won’t accept any center caps either - no groove to seat a clip, no way they’d be bolt-on. But I don’t like that oxidation showing through! I was thinking of masking and painting the hubs so it doesn’t look like so much ass, but should I
Find a silver to match the wheels
Paint it Black
Purple Pearl Metallic to ‘match’ the car
Joke Option Ash78

There is nothing wrong with that

Except it looks like butt

Go for option 5. I’m sure Borsuq will weld these for you with the merest suggestion.

Do NOT paint it black. Every body and their brother has soap bar gen (sorry I like the way they look but, that’s what I think they look like) Camaros with black spray painted wheels.

I think he just means spray the hub black.

Wouldn’t Speedline make caps that go on their own wheels? Or is it a question of availability?

why not 3d print some center hubcaps that are just sliiiiightly too large so they fit by friction

I think the ‘05 Mustang is more of a soap bar. Eww.

...both the wheels AND the hubs. It’ll help draw less attention to the missing center caps. Some nice lug nuts too, especially if the studs are exposed.

What Essex Tee said. The wheels are staying silver. It’s the oxidized visible hubs I wanna change
And it’s not a soap bar, it’s a catfish

From what I understand these are the ultralight motorsport versions of the Mistral 6, and as a weight saving measure they were not built with provisions for center caps and said caps were never produced

Because that is an order of magnitude more effort than some masking tape and a spray can

Using an excessive amount of effort to perform a simple solution is the way, because doing it the simple way always seems to come last

Not painting the wheels. It’ll be even more striking when the car is purple again with the silver. I do have nice black Gorilla acorns tho :)

It’s my job to find the path of least resistance which works very well for me both personally and professionally
Because I am one lazy motherfucker

The correct answer is always to replace your wheels with black steelies.

1. Pull motor and trans
2. Sell to someone who is LS swap
3. Profit

I would go with a medium to charcoal grey.

Why not pull the wheel to paint the hub instead of masking? I’d probably go silver or black, I don’t think there’s a large enough area that the purple would be super noticible.

save time and money, just leave it as is.

I would try to match the wheels.

There’s nothing you can do, honestly. Just ship them to me and I’ll ‘dispose’ of them....

No.

The wheels will get pulled. The masking is to ensure no overspray gets on the rotors/calipers/etc :)

It bothers me though

Oh good. I’m over here wondering why you’re masking the wheel just to spray the hub, haha.
