That would be mindblowing. Bellof averaged 202 km/h (125,6 mph). Under 5 minutes would mean an average speed of over 250 (249.984) km/h or 155.33 mph. That’s an improvement of 25 percent.

Seems legit. 80% of the record just like spa’s difference. I project a 5:20. Factors include fear in a more dangerous track, plus Bellof’s time was from an insane man who believed he could recover from anything so he worked way outside the normal envelope. it could be argued his 6:11 wasnt normal to begin with. By that margin, a sub 5 from the 919 could be only from a suicidal run...unlikely?

Right. I was always interested in how old cars would do on new(ly developed) tires. Like an Carrera GT, 959, F1, F40 or Diablo.

Agreed. On the other hand drivers are in way better shape today, probably supported by a mental coach. Sub 5 would be mental anyways.

I think the car can do 5.20-5.30... but I also think Porsche will keep a lot under it’s foot for future records... So I think they’ll beat the record, but they’ll keep it reasonable.... Like 5.58 or something...

I wonder the same thing. I think the drivelines would need upgrades. Perhaps it’s why some of the earlier supercars are “high-strung”
