Ugh. The teachers lot in my school is completely devoid of interesting vehicles. We had one cool car, an Audi S5, and she traded it a couple months ago for a freaking CR-V.

Probably the Audi was out of warranty (or her lease was up), good reason to dump it quick when you are paid a teacher’s salary.

Only people with money or enthusiast still living with their parents can afford a German car out of warranty.

Yeah, probably. I know I don’t have the stomach to maintain an aging German car. I was still sad to see it.

It’s a typical car cycle for a lot of people. They buy an aspirational car they always wanted, then decide something more reasonable/conservative next. They get bored with that and go back to something exciting. Then want something easy going again, etc.

That teacher, after many years, will hopefully reach the highest income bracket in her field, which is probably less than a first year registered nurse. But at least it will be enough to buy another “cool” car in the future.

(On a side note, I’m not trying to make fun of teachers, just that they should be paid more for what they do).

I appreciate that, and I didn’t take that as being made fun of. We actually work in a pretty good district, and make a fair and reasonable salary. If I didn’t have kids, I’d be able to afford something aspirational. In general, teachers are underpaid, but I can’t say that’s true where I work.
