*UPDATE*
I’ve fallen three times already. Ive been on skates 30 minutes. Taking a break. Never learned how as a kid.
My jeans are torn from a collision with the floor.
Also, my wife got an action shot.
Christ I’m fat.

I haven’t tried in a while. But I’m sure I probably could. Maybe. It would be a rough start.

TIL there are still roller rinks around, with the same kind of carpet iirc. The one in my hometown is now a flea market.
I’m not sure I would even be able to skate anymore so you’re probably doing better than me.

Ice skating is so much better. When you fall, you don’t skin your knees.

We’re not fat mate, we’re big boned.
Anyone says so, tell them it’s not fat, it’s a fuel tank for a sex machine.

I’ve never tried either, nor have I under been able to understand what’s so allegedly “uncool” about inlines.

People who think inlines are less cool than these just couldn’t master inlines.

Inlines are so much easier to use. It just feels more natural.

Except usually the wooden floor has more cushion than the solid ice.

Few years ago my wife and I took our two nieces as well as my sister in law and her hubby at the time ice skating on Christmas Eve. Sis in laws hubby was a personal trainer, and Mr athletic. Dude could be a statue were he made of marble. Conversely, I’m built more like Santa.
None of us had been skating since we were kids, but I guess spending my days balancing on stilts paid off because I was absolutely killing it on the ice. Think her hubby made it round once, while clutching the wall, and feigned a foot cramp before disappearing to the concession area.
I’ll take my victories wherever I can get ‘em.
Keep at it. Skating is fun, and good exercise. I should do more of it myself.

Bold of you to own up to it in public.
Take advantage of your wife and slow-skate time. Have her hold you and bill it as romantic.

Growing up, I think it was the opposite. Rollerblades were much cooler than nomal skates which just go associated with those crappy brown rentals with the orange wheels.

I should find my roller blades. That used to by my way home from high school. I think I’ve used them like five times since.

My son went to a birthday party last week at a roller rink. He started off on the traditional roller skates, then quickly changed into inlines. This year, he officially became faster than me, not that I’ve ever been a great skater. He’s 8, and has played ice hockey for 4 years.

My friends and I were the first to own Rollerblades in our town. We had a great time terrorizing the sidewalks!
The wheels were the first thing we upgraded. The originals felt like the bearings were greased with molasses.
Unfortunately, the plastic didn’t age well. The last time I pulled them out, the boots started crumbling.

I don’t think I’ve roller skated since puberty and I sucked then. I was more about the arcade games the rink had than the skating.
