So, I have not been able to ride my bike since November, back when I didn’t even shitpost here, now it’s back.
My beautiful, aluminium frame, 29" bicycle finally came out of storage today as the tiny part arrived from Israel and it was able to move again. Huge shout out to Pilo engineering who makes the part.
Yeah, the PLA hanger I 3D printed worked for like a day and a half, it had stretched too much by then. Now this champ is ready to face the streets again and it’s having its chain lubed, brakes changed, and part fitted. Shamefully I lost my tools so I couldn’t do it myself.

To be honest, getting the part was such a hassle, slow, and expensive that I genuinely think it would’ve been easier for me to get a gun than the bicycle fixed.

I was riding in a 27" while she was kept in storage.
I hate 27"
I could actually do a lot with this bike, racing motorcycles down the avenue and all. Of course they didn’t know I was racing them.

Must be the gearing... I feel the 29 way faster, and also way more stable at speed.
Centripetal force is a bitch I tell ya.

it is gearing... me 29ers heaviest gear is probaly just past what me 26 can do in the middle
offroad the 29 is so much better tho

I thought smaller tyres were better off road...

Man, I have had a tough time finding time to ride this spring. So many rainy weekends and commitments. I’m going to start riding in the morning before work again and just come in late.

eeeh... no... wide is what you want
small is good as it makes pedalling lighter.. but its nothing gears cant compensate for

The new trend is putting wider tires on everything. Especially 27.5" wheels. The short of it is if the tire pattern and construction don’t match your needs it will perform worse. Unless you are beach racing or riding on snow it has some large downsides anyways.
I think the upper limits of fat bike tires/gearing size topped out when you had to start taking it to the farm implement dealer for service and new tires. :P
