As much as I love the looks of them, they drive like trash compared to even a modern economy car. Driving my dad’s was one of the worst “never meet your heroes” moments.

Idk, my father-in-law had a well put together, period correct 347 stroker build ‘65 GT and besides the brakes it was super tight and great to drive.

That’s a much smaller, lighter car. I’d love to drive one to see how it compares. I have a suspicion my dad’s had a 289 with 302 heads and no compensation for the loss of compression.

It was more so, how awful the chassis felt. Very twisty and not stiff at all.

His was pushing about 425HP in a much smaller chassis than a 69. Had subframe connectors and front shock tower braces but thats about it. Never felt overly twisty when getting on it, power went right down and it cornered decent for what it was. I’ve never driven any Mustang between the 65 and a fox body though so I don’t much to compare it to.

Those subframe connectors and tower braces make a world of difference.

I expect If I ever drove a 69 charger, I’d be dissapointed.

I loved my friend’s 73 mach 1 and that car was clapped out. I can’t imagine these are much worse.

Same here. Even though it is my favorite muscle car.

Re-runs on CMT and a few other channels. My dad watched it when he was in high school.

I was 7 when it ended, kind of wish it never came back so I could remember it in a nice way. But the charger, was the height of muscle car styling. not a bad angle of that car.
