I was very confused why this guy wasn’t being pulled over at the beginning. Turns out that’s a turning lane that can be entered from both sides. Was confused by the double yellow.

Road rage dashcam videos makes me angry most of the times. I love Instant Justice dashcam videos because it’s a manifestation of “Where the hell is a cop when you need one” come true.

But it’s not a two-direction turn lane. There’s only the one double yellow. He’s already on the wrong side of the road. I’m guessing he was trying to jump the long line and turn left farther up. There’s not even any place for him to turn into.

Maybe laws are different in Canada, but there is a double yellow (which should never be crossed) and then a solid/broken yellow on the other side of the turn lane. That means that you can enter the turn lane from the broken (oncoming) side but not the side the camera car is on. By my reasoning, he’s already on the wrong side of the road. He was going to pass the long line of stopped cars, but got stymied by another car turning legally.

To add: A two-way turn lane looks like this in Canada. Apparently, the pattern is reversed in the US.
