The $100 Elite runs! I reinstalled the in tank screen fuel filter, pulled the in-line filter back out of the system, and got rid of all the extra slack in the hose. That all was preventing fuel from being drawn down to the carb. The first fire up took some doing, with the help of carb cleaner, but now that I’ve run some fresh fuel in her, she fires right up!
I took it for a quick maiden voyage up the block and back.
Now that it runs, I’ve discovered the reason it probably got parked in the first place. It creeps at idle. Not so bad that the brakes can’t hold it, but I need to fix it. The manual says it’s either a broken clutch spring, or worn clutch lining.
Hopefully I can find a good how to article or video, because the tiny grainy pictures in the service manual aren’t much help.

Congrats! It always amazes me how readily these 80's Honda can come back to life after sitting for YEARS.
You could probably use the service manual for just about any Honda scooter. I’ve owned Honda mopeds from 4 different generations and the CVTs are all pretty much identical.

YAY! More scooters ftw! :D
What engine size was this little fella again?

What a score. Now you need to figure out what to do when the girls start bugging you to let them ride it.

It’s an 80.

This is for a 50, but guessing the transmission is similar, if not the same! It’s reassembly, but maybe you could get what you need from it?

Nice! And a great day to ride it too!

This one was actually made in 2000! It’s amazing how long these remained unchanged.
I have the manual, the pictures are just tiny and crappy. I’ll figure it out!

Right now they’re still scared of driving the Power wheels truck, so I have some time to figure that out.

Possibly, thanks!

Good god! Looks like they were made from 85-2007!

I give it until 2 minutes after they see you ride down the driveway.

Haven’t seen one of those in a donkey’s age. Always thought the were cool. Looks like the 80's

The crazy thing is they made them essentially unchanged until 2007. This one is a 2000 model.

wow. could have fooled me. A few vespas kicking around, but scooters aren’t really a thing here. would have to check the mudflaps of a bro-truck to find one

I don’t see a ton of them around here either. I’ve fallen in love with scooters over the last couple years though. They’re out there if you look for them.

I had a new one when I was 14 it was an ‘86 and looked just like that. It sat in the backyard at my parents for probably 5 years and was stolen one night.
