Or tell me how to do it? (Give a man a fish.....teach a man to fish.....). I want to remove the guy behind the Phantom. Ideally, we’d lose the APU on the other side, but that might be a bit much. I figure it ought to be dead simple for somebody who knows what they are doing, which isn’t me. I can give you an original file if you email me at my user name at gee male.
I took this at an air show in Fort Worth back in 2012. I found the originals to a few older shows, and I’m going back and re-editing them in LR.

If you don’t find any help by the weekend, let me know I can help you out I’m just too busy now.

Thanks. This photo is 6 years old, so there’s clearly no rush.

Was there a passing Ferarri?

I presume the background flames were an intentional part of the show?

Yes. The Commemorative Air Force was doing their Tora Tora Tora show (which I’ve seen countless times now). The Vals and Kates do passes over the field and the pyro guys set off trash bags full of fuel. Makes for quite a fireball.

just a test, looks fairly possible. I’ll work on the APU too. I’ll email you.

Fantastic. Thanks.

you mention more than one image, if you have a few, that could be handy for stealing unique portion of fire from for the copy and pasting.

That’s an epic shot!

I took four frame, and this is the only one that was in focus. I had my camera pointed up when the explosion happened, swung down quickly, and got one good frame. I’d be happy to email you the others, along with a big version of this one.

Just saw your email. Wait one.

Thanks! It was also a bit lucky. I happened to be in the right place at the right time. I had the camera pointed at the sky when the pyro went off, and just had time to slue the camera down and take four frames. This is the only one that was in focus. Very often in photography, it’s better to be lucky than good.

Nice - I’ve seen that sort of show at Oshkosh a number of times. Sit in the grass right at the crowd line, and you can feel the heat from the fireballs.
Those get a little corny to me - in large part because the Oshkosh airshows are world famous for the corny announcing. But fun anyways!

The announcing is corny everywhere. I generally try to tune it out. I got some good shots of the TTT show back in 2014 at a small show in Temple. This was one of my favorites.
This is the North American T-6 Mitsubishi Zero.

I see someone’s got you covered but FYI, It’s all about the clone stamp if you want to learn how to fish.
You could also just mask out the entire plane and put in a new clean explosion. Or change the scale of the existing explosion to get rid of large objects like the APU.

Could you replace the TD on the tail with Comic Sans?
![]() 04/12/2018 at 16:15 |

I know that much, but it’s the actual use of the tool that I need to learn. I know just enough about PS to make a real mess of things. It’s been on my list of things to get better at, but right now I’m more invested in learning Lightroom.

ah, well... the technique is just “work small and get lots of practice”

Just like learning to play the trumpet.

from what i remember of learning the trumpet that also requires learning how to ignore the pain in your lips and cheeks.

Well, I’ve been at it for more than 40 years now, so I’m beyond that part.
