So the Blue Truck (as we are calling it) is up to nearly 1500 miles, so the breaking-in is just about done. Today Mrs. BoostAddict played the Hyper-mileing game on an ~80 mile trip. This was the result:
27.1 mpg average over 80 miles, noice.
Remember we live in Vermont, which is Not flat, and has lots of stop signs and 25mph zones, and this is a full-size 4x4 extend-cab pickup. Color me impressed.
She says her goal now is 28.
Mind you, this takes attention to achieve, but it can be done, and without impeding the flow of traffic.

Damn, you are getting close to the 30 mpg I usually get from my NA 1.6L Mini.

WOW. That’s what I get with my 328xi... but it takes premium so it costs more.

TIL a full size pickup truck can get 7 more MPG than my 90s Japanese wagon with AWD

I had a 2 wheel drive 2.7EB rental for 2 weeks and managed 22 while sort of beating on it. I was impressed with it big time. https://oppositelock.kinja.com/f150-2-7-ecoboost-mpgs-1779597773

That’s very impressive... Google tells me that’s 8.7 litres per 100 km. And that’s modern mid sized sedan territory.

That’s impressive, the best I’ve gotten on my 2.7L 4x2 is 25 mpg, but that’s in San Diego, which has a lot of hills and elevation changes.
This is not hypermiling though, just taking it easy and driving the speed limit on the slow lane.

Yeah, we have the 3.73 gears as well, just “taking it easy” gets us about 22mpg, still very good for a truck of these dimensions, but switching the display to instantaneous economy and putting just a little effort in to keeping that green bar full really pays off.
