Kinja'd!!!

Just bought this beast. Finally someone on CL actually responded to my query. It didn’t work well at first, but that was because the PO made his own filter out of carpet padding, which, not surprisingly, is far from ideal.

The first time my ex came over to my place she asked “Do you even own a vacuum cleaner?” I responded that yes, I have two, but I just don’t use them. This one makes eight, but some of mine either don’t work (battery issues), are dedicated to a single function, are small and of limited function (Dustbusters) or at surplus since my current place has mostly hardwood floors. But a Shop Vac - c’mon, who couldn’t use one of those?

Nice one. First, get an extractor tool.

It will pay dividends when shampooing your seats, mats, etc...

That’s a necessity. The main purpose for this unit is cleaning the car, especially getting the chunks of glass from the break-in back in 2016. And with light upholstery comes dark stains, and that’s the next thing that I need to do.

Ye’, a good vacuum is one thing but a good wet’n’dry vacuum is the boss.

You don’t need a shampooing extractor as I’ve always found it best to spray on an area, agitate with a nylon brush and then vacuum.

Also. Make sure after use you take the filter out and give it a good clean or rinse off and let dry before replacing.

Forgetting to can lead to build up and damage.

Oh ye’, and know in advance what consumables you’ll need such as dust bags for dry vacuuming of fine dirt so as not to block the filter and the part number for a replacement filter, also get a few bags and a spare filter so you don’t have any down time trying to source replacements or end up spending over the odds because the only one available at the time you need it is vastly overpriced.

It sounds anal, but it has been said about me and car cleaning. Lol.

Thankfully the filter info is listed right on the front of the unit, so that’ll help with the inevitable Amazon purchase. I did give the guy an extra $5 for the new filter he had laying around; it’s not like he was going to do anything with it. I need to get an adapter thingy to use some of the accessories I already have with this big-ass hose, and getting some bags sounds like a very good idea.
