This is what 2 years and 14,000 miles will do to an air filter (I’m confident it’s the original)

Sliced into that odd shape by the turbo, no doubt.

Id like to say that’s correct, but the regular Fiesta 1.6 uses the same filter

Lucky it took you 2 years and X miles. My CR-V and my mom’s Odyssey (both 2013) eat up air filters like every month.

That doesn’t mean it’s not true. They could have made it so the turbo fit and just used the same one on the NA ones.

This reminds me, I should check the air filter on my Subaru. Haven’t looked since I bought the car and rule number one of used cars is do not trust the previous owner no matter how “normal” they seem.

I suppose you’re right, the 1.0 is so tiny though, I can’t imagine the turbo is very big

I’m sure this odd shape was so Ford could make more on replacement filters until the aftermarket started producing them. Also to screw over quick lube places that now have to stock this oddball filter.

Every month I check them and they’re black with grime. Don’t know how.
