This is what happens when GM stops allowing Holden to produce bespoke Australian made models. RIP, Holden.

We rented a Malibu from that generation about 4 years ago. It was a 4-cylinder with automatic, and that transmission might have been the worst one I’ve ever driven. It sapped all the power, and it was always hunting for the right gear.

Has Holden done anything well ever that wasn’t a Commodore? Nobody wanted an Adventra or Malibu or any recent Astra or the Daewoo cars. It’s just flop after flop

I guess the SUVs have done okay? And maybe the Spark?

Captiva only sells due to price.

Cruze sold ok, even though they were shoddy quality wise.

Viva,Epica,Barina Spark, Spark haven’t set the world alight.

Trax does ok.

oooh, TF Rodeo (‘88-’02) was a good one.

LD Astra.

TS Astra sold well

Yes...but they were good cars that were not of their making. And that was a while ago.

If Holden survive much past 2020 then it will only be because they take marketing, pricing and repackaging lessons from ALDI.

They should survive. Ford is thriving and they should be able to do that. They sell GM cars here they just mess it up every single time

Holden won’t survive without product. Most of their stuff comes from Koreaand Thailand and GM Korea is in real trouble. Europe is mostly closed now due to the sale of Opel. What’s left comes from the US or Mexico and will come with very tight margins so don’t expect the same level of local engineering that Hyundai and Kia put in. Plus they don’t have a future Colorado development partner...

As for Ford Australia...they might as well call themselves the Ranger Ute Company. But agreed... their product line is more compelling than Holden’s.

Don’t the Focus and Mondeo do well? I can’t even think what SUVs they’ve got

Not really. Mazda might have something to do with it.

Their SUVs are Everest, Escape and Edge. None are engaging, endearing or inexpensive.
