I called the dealer about my seat !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . And, they didn’t tell me what I wanted to hear.
I called the Evansville Mazda dealer and they said that since they’ve already fixed the seat once, they’re not likely to fix it again. She is going to call her warranty admin and see but she said they likely will deny the warranty claim for the same problem over again. So I have a 2.5 year old car with a peeling seat. My Grand Am was 8-years-old when I got it and 10-years-old when I sold it and its leather was fine.
Annoyed is an understatement.
I’m disappointed with my 6 right now because of this damn seat issue and having to fight to get it fixed. Like, what long term durability can I expect from the interior and the car overall if the seat upholstery peels up twice in three years?
Oh, and the right rear door lock actuator squeaks occasionally, too. To add insult to injury.

So a warranty is a warranty until the second time it’s a warranty and now it’s your problem
[customer service rainbow appears]

Have you called Mazda yet?
If corporate is unhelpful get ahold of the area rep and if they don’t see how stupid they’re being then tell them you’ll get it fixed by a proper shop and sue them for the cost.
They can’t deny you a warranty claim because they failed to fix it once already.

I’m waiting for a call back from the service advisor, and based on what I hear from that, I’ll call Mazda customer care and tell them what’s up.

I mean....
really? thats the complaint?
dude...

Meh. When I pay 25k for a car and the seat upholstery flakes off in 2.5 years, I’m going to complain.

Lemon law consultation next?

Hopefully Mazda doesn’t have their head up their ass and they fix it.

My seat is super worn in my RAV4 and my parents have never done anything about it. It’s still a lot comfier than the passenger seats that don’t look like they’re about to crack.

I agree. That’s bullshit. Never heard of that happening before so they need to replace the leather.

exacly you paid 25K for a mazda midsize. that not exactly a 100k merc.
and IIRC you fret about the SMALLEST door ding. like. its a car. stuff is going to wear.
worst case all up steve on here and get a set of actual leather covers.

The warranty says they fix defects in stuff. It says nothing about the maximum number of times they have to fix it. Why don’t you think about pinging Steve Lehto about this? My guess he’ll say it’s bullshit too and have an idea about the right pressure point to hit to get this resolved.
Also, in my experience with Mazda, one of the most important things is having a service department that acts as you advocate to the company rather than your gatekeeper. Maybe you need to go to a different dealer.

No that is stupid, we see cars in all the time for the same issue not being fixed. They manufacturer should 100% warranty that. How long ago exactly was the 1st repair?

Two years. February 2016. Four months after I got the car (October 2015). The 3 year 36,000 mile bumper-to-bumper warranty will be up this coming October.

I do fret about things. I have GAD and OCD. It happens.
Anyway, I realize it’s not a 100k Mercedes but I still feel that the seat material should last longer than 2.5 years and 26,000 miles.
I had a freaking Pontiac Grand Am that was ten-years-old when I sold it in 2009 and its leather was fine.

Thanks but no thanks. I like to admire those from afar.

It’s not that intense but it is annoying, that’s for sure.

Oh ok, cause most parts have a 12 month 12k mile warranty on them, but you’re past that. Your standard warranty should still cover this. If the dealer says they won’t then harass Mazda Customer Care

key word here. Leather. not leatherette.
As for the OCD, ehh. yea ti remember you having that (and a legit case, not the bullshit delf diagnosed shit) I cant help you there :(

It’s all good. Therapy and medication and my faith have helped a lot. :)
Leatherette is sucky compared to leather, I guess. I never knew that. But we have a five-year-old couch with similar fake leather and it’s doing the same thing my car seat is doing, only worse.

Some states allow you to use lemon law based on repair attempts rather than any kind of severity so you can always threaten ;)
