The VTEC kicked in on that auction.

An automatic IS300 sedan sold for like 12 grand two months ago. Not even a sport edition. Auctions make people do bad things...

One day maybe, but not today.

You can literally buy a C5 Z06 for that price and be faster in every measurable category.

I need to get in on this 90s Honda bubble.
Selling 1991 Prelude Si. 5-speed, black over tan cloth. 150k miles, occasionally smokes at startup, IACV needs to be rewired. $10,000 or will trade for IS350 or TSX wagon. No lowballers, I know what I have.

Wow. You could get a good one in every color and still ha w enough for a year of maintenance for that.

This is stupid on another level - buy one that’s 2-3 years old for similar money and have side-curtain airbags and other safety items. I like living, at least right now.

I could buy a 2011 K20 Si and have five digits in cash left over. A better car in every way.

Exactly. You could even pay for a good paint job (because the factory paint on 8th gens was awful) and still have thousands leftover.

Even a 2018 Si is only like $2000 more than this.

Thank you. Had a hot Honda once - ‘91 CRX Si ... no way I’d drive it today, even if it was perfect w/ 19K miles. I want airbags.

Not everyone wants all the garbage and nannies they’ve forced into cars nowadays.
I wouldn’t trade my 2000 Si for a brand new Civic Type-R if it was free. I don’t care that it has three times the power. I just don’t care.
You don’t have to “get it”, either.

I’d love to find a low mile un-modified NYG ACR some day...
But should it be worth 20k+?
No.
Should ANY FWD econo-box based special model with a hot motor and suspension?
No.
Foregoing sentimental attachments, its a waste of money better spent on better cars.

I wouldn’t do it, but did you read the buyer’s statement? It’s pretty good.
One of the better arguments I’ve read is that this car’s condition is basically showroom, and the price he paid is about the new price for the car back then adjusted for inflation.
