!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! It says it needs a few things, but also lists some major stuff that was just done. This looks like a nice, clean body, and who cares about the rest (like a non-functioning odometer) if it runs well and the interior isn’t garbage?
$700!! I’m about to spend that on replacing two toilets in my house! This car will no doubt outlast those toilets.

No, it’s still junk.

At that price it doesn’t matter what it is, it’s a good deal if it runs well and this certainly seems like it does. I’d take it as a beater over something cheap and Korean any day.

Too far away or I might snag it,.
I’ll bet it would look great with a V8 under the hood.

Junk might be strong, but I chased the nostalgia and bought one if these a couple years ago (for $250 running and driving, spent $50 to pass inspection) because it was my first car. It was like driving a tractor and not in a cool, hey I’m driving a tractor kind of way. It was not fun or interesting, it was a square car that was slow and handled like a small town might. I am a huge Volvo fan (I have had 6 and I am getting close to number 7) but the 240 is dull. They are also not as safe as people like to claim. They were very safe for their day but in no way compare to the safety of modern cars.

I’ve never driven a stock one, but I imagine they aren’t the most interesting. I have, however, driven a manual 244 with basically the whole IPD suspension and bracing catalogue thrown at it, and it was one of the nicest driving things I’ve had the pleasure to drive. Because of it, I’m gonna need to own a 240 with all the IPD goodies at some point.
