The HV, I assume powered by a Hybrid Powertrain.
Toyota has revealed an all-new Rav4 for 2019, based on the all new Toyota New Global Architecture Platform, and seemingly designed with influence from one of the most aesthetically pleasing and stylistic animals of nature, the common warthog.
No basic details have yet to be released, but Toyota has so far shown off the HV, Limited, and Adventure Grade models. The Adventure Grade seemingly takes influence from the 5th generation 4Runner, which is pretty acceptable in my eyes.
The back seemingly takes influence from a number of things, including the current Highlander, Lexus, and a Klingon battle cruiser.
The highly superior Adventure Grade model, which is probably just a badge tbh.
Coming soon to a school run near you.

That is one of the ugliest things I’ve ever seen. A shame because they did such a good job on the Corolla.

What and the fuck is that???

Since you dislike the resemblances of vehicles being pointed out, this is the side profile of a BMW X5 mixed with a Volvo XC40 roof, Acura TLX headlights and a Tacoma grille.

This is a joke right?

I genuinely don’t understand why people buy these beige-mobiles. It’s the antithesis of fun. Are people afraid to NOT be bland..?

Would make a great hot hatch. It’s like a Gti got in bed with a Hyundai designer, and, well.... You know.

Trust me, if I could say yes, I would.

Telling this and the Fortuner apart is going to be a challenge to the uninitiated...

I think it looks more like a puma

I...like it? Like I really lik it compared to the current Rav. It looks like a 4Runner and a BMW X3 had an out of wedlock baby, which is probably what the designers were going for.

You must not have a commute that’s 95% highway traffic. Or drive almost exclusively with kids in the car. There’s no place for “fun” on the roads in the US anymore.

I’m going to hell but I’m going there smiling and laughing.

It’s kind of strange that an all new vehicle seems to have its styling influenced by the 4Runner that seems like its been around forever. I don’t hate it, but when the CX5 is so damn attractive, it just doesn’t do it for me.

For some people... yes, they’re absolutely afraid to not be bland. Being different is scary and bad.
For other people... they just don’t care about cars, thinking of them as appliances just like their washing machine . They may even use the car to go do fun things that aren’t bland, but the car itself? If it gets them from point A to point B in comfort, who cares? And, the brand has quite a good reputation for reliability (meaning less of their time is spent worrying about fixing it), and marketing has convinced a lot of people that sitting up high and having AWD is important to not be killed in a car (and the prevalence of tall cars has created an arms race in which everyone has to have a tall car to see their surroundings).
And then, there’s the whole thing where crossovers are a fucking fashion statement in some circles - as in, people actually like the way that it makes them look. I really don’t get that, but whatever.

I think it looks significantly better than the current RAV4, which is hideous.

I’ll say this. The Adventure (LOL) trim with the TRD inspired grill/front fascia is clearly going for the Compass/refreshed Cherokee”rugged” look and actually looks more interesting than the current year generic snoozefest. It looks better than the current CR-V as well. The other 2 models are bleh.

Tacoma in the front, CRV in the back.

that doesn;t have the color scheme tho
![]() 03/28/2018 at 09:15 |

Oh you mean’t the color, OK. The front is straight up TRD Tacoma/4Runner and this “thing” mish-mashed
![]() 03/28/2018 at 09:57 |

yea the front in nothing FJ cruiser at all. The black plastic/blue body/white roof/ black roof rack is very FJ

I’ve got an idea. Let’s use the Tacoma grill on the front of the adventure grade because adventure.

“How do we evoke a sense of off-roadability on this new model?”
“Well, people buy the off-road versions of the Tacoma and 4Runner, we could maybe use them as inspiration? Maybe we could make a TRDP-”
“Put a Tacoma grille on it. Next.”

Kids, no. But even with bumper to bumper highway traffic I’d take my uncomfortable, cramped Miata over a normal, newer car any day. Still makes the drive so much more enjoyable.
Actually.... I do just that. My poor Outback hasn’t been driven in months

The front looks like a pig’s snout.
And they’re doing the stupid oo-two-tone-so-you-think-this-roof-is-floating-but-not-really thing, like all other CUVs.
No like.
