looks a little worse than rough. see I want one with a PTO an enclosed cab with heater and a snow plow as a work vehicle for a remote property so it wouldn’t matter terribly, but I think if these take off its going to require a new aftermarket to pop up to tame the suspension a little (not to mention lifts and such)

Long travel off-road suspensions are for the softies. Real off-roaders crave harshness.

And smoke cigarettes, eat smoked meats, cheese, drink heavily and die of old age at 53.

So it’s a pretty side-by-side? I’m not convinced this is what everyone needs..

The two things that boogle my mind are the price and the weight

How the hell does it weight 3000lbs? Seriously.

You could have one of each Tracker/Sidekick/SunRunner versions ever made for $18K.. and then drive it home on the street.

dual solid axle, boxed frame, iron block diesel, steel body...it adds up.

Don’t forget 2 door RAV4 and a x90

I think the steel tub was a mistake a fiberglass would be just fin and shed weight with no real cost besides a more authentic feel

nah, fiberglass is terrible for a bed material. CFRP maybe but fiberglass would get trashed unless it was thick enough to have no practical weight advantage.

Somebody is taking the piss...
... because we can get this Mahindra Pik-up single cab 4x4 for AU$27,000 drive away. So say AU$23,000 boc. That’s US$18,000.

2.2 litre TDi, 6 speed manual transmission, Eaton diff lock in the rear diff, 2500 kg tow capacity, 900 kg payload...etc etc

I was going to argue that $18k is $9k less than a new 2-door Wrangler and that $9k will get a lot in modifications, but Wranglers are so common on the used market that one could probably be found moderately modified for $18k.
Maybe if someone is looking for a UTV platform without all the electronicals, airbags, sensors, and with a turbo diesel?

Smarter than that...the five door wagon called XUV.

Yeah, I guess if someone has money to blow then why not buy a $18k toy. I have no idea what the going rate is for non road legal big offroad toys. $18k just seems crazy for an Indian copy of an eighty year old design. Jeeps (the old ones especially) are good because they’re relatively cheap, not because they’re that good.
