The Lockheed Viking S-3 is one of my favorites. I love the way it looks and I love that it just gets on with being awesome with little fanfare.
Under appreciated generally but well loved by those who know, simple, durable, a little funky looking and dated but the right tool for the job. The S3 is the Sky Cruiser.
Im sad already thinking about it going away.

Also one of my favorites. I love the side-by-side seating. It’s first flight got a write up on TDIAH.

It has a really great high-pitched sound too. You could always tell when an S3 was coming in even at night.

The S2 is used in California fire fighting now.

same engines as the A-10, same screeching wail. One of the cool little things about those engines.

Always used to confuse this with another 80s side-by-side Navy aircraft when I was a kid.

Counterpoint: the Mitsubishi F-2
Take something American (Jeep, F-16), and make it into something that’s actually good.

I love the Intruder/Prowlers. Not as much as I like the Super Hornets but still pretty cool.

The F-16 is just another example of American malaise engineering.
Both of these came out in 1974

Nothing beats the F-14 Tomcat for me, ever. The A-10 comes close.

I like the S-3. It’s also known as a Hoover.
