$1200 bad boy from the same long gone (pre quartz era) watchmaker after the jump. Another vintage chrono. You could definitely buy an actual Pontiac for that...

My Pontiac was $1,100, so I can confirm.
However, I’m glad I spent that sum on an entire car.

Around here $600 will get you a Grand Prix, and that even comes with a clock.

In the 1951 Dutch cyclist Wim van Est fell 70 meters into a ravine during the Tour de France (he was wearing the yellow jearsey), while wearing a Pontiac watch. His manager and spectators pulled him up using inner tubes, and once they got him out again, he was relatively unscathed, and miraculously his Pontiac still worked, which lead Pontiac to adopt the slogan “Seventy meters deep I dropped, my heart skipped a few beats but my Pontiac never stopped” for marketing purposes.

bound to be more reliable than a Pontiac car.

I was NOT expecting this level of horology in the comments. I have been humbled! That’s a cool story I’m sure I’ll remember, totally outrageous haha

I’ll still take a G8!

I’m an Oldsmobile Alero man myself.

Fair enough, but that’s no Pontiac. I mean with some dental floss, some glue, and a junkyard Pontiac badge you can get pretty close, but it’s not quite the same.

That V6 though! lol

It’s a combination of a bit of horology, being a cycling fan (especially the Tour de France), and being Dutch, haha.
