It’s about that time again. Just when the tax man comes for a chunk of my bank account, I am nearing a need for new tires. Since the last time I asked I no longer have a 120 mile/day commute on top of my normal work driving. So basically, I still drive a lot but at least half of what I used to. So, if you’d be so kind as to give me some recommendations on a good set of all seasons I’d be quite happy.
Details:
2015 Mazda 3 hatch
Tire size: 205/60R16
Style of driving: enthusiastic

Continental ExtremeContact DWS06s. I have a set on my Prelude and love them.

All seasons and enthusiastic driving seems mismatched.
But I’d first recommend a larger wheel so you have less sidewall deflection...

BF Goodrich G-Force sport Comp 2, I put the 205/55-16 size on My 2006 Mazda 3 and am quite happy with dry/wet/braking and noise levels. I am also a spirited driver. I think I paid $80/tire. I think they are classified as a high performance summer tire.

I have Continental ExtremeContact Sport, which is the successor to the DW. I find them a great fit for moderately aggressive street driving, good in wet and dry, although I haven’t had any other summer tires prior to these. I understand the DWS (all-season sibling to that tire) is well-regarded also.

“a good set of all seasons”

Continentals are for tossers and sheep shaggers. Michelin Pilot A/S 3 tires are awesome.

I seccond this reccomendation. I just put a set of these on my Civic a few weeks back, and so far they are worlds better than my old tires. They grip so much better in every conceviable condition especially in the rain, and they have drastically reduced the under steer that I had basically just learned to live with with my old tires.

A/S 3+ are ok, non-plus are blah.

There don’t appear to be many overtly sporty all season tires in that size. Basically the Dunlop Signature HP is the only choice.
If you switch to 215/55-16 you also could do the Continental DWS 06 or General G-MAX AS-05. At least if this test is anything to go on, I’d probably do that size and pick the Generals.

Ive had luck with pirelli tires, p7 to be more specific
Less so with firestones, sumitomo, uniroyals.
Hankooks and kumhos are get what you pay for.
My newest car has continentals on it and they seem okay, and ive never heard much a complaint on michelins

I have the G Force Comp 2 AS and they have been great for about 20,000 miles. I drive aggressively and they have held up well on my tuned C30.

I have Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06s on my GTI and they’re incredibly good all around. Low noise levels, good grip, excellent wet handling, they were even pretty decent in the snow. They aren’t incredibly expensive either.

The Pilots were the first choice for my Prelude, but nobody had them in the right size.

Cannot use “good set” and “all season” in the same sentence. I am fine with people wanting to use all seasons but there is no sense in choosing anything other than what will get the best gas mileage and cost the least and last the longest. Any sort of enthusiastic intentions are just out the window on an all season tire.

Not sure if they still make them, but I had some Diamondback tires on my 06 Sentra Spec V. They cost me like $50/tire and were awesome tires year round. They gripped well in dry/wet/snow and rode nice for low-pros. They were kinda soft, which made them a little noisier, but otherwise they were great.
Damn, it was these: http://www.diamondback-tire.com/PLT/DB-968.html Which they don’t make in your size. Sorry and shit.

These are decent for the price, they just don’t last super long on a light FWD with 250ft-lbs of torque: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Douglas-Performance-Tire-205-60R16-92H-SL/46633821?wmlspartner=wlpa&adid=22222222227034410778&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=90166188528&wl4=aud-310687322322:pla-126763544208&wl5=9018977&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=8175035&wl11=online&wl12=46633821&wl13=&veh=sem
Had these on our 06 Stratus (which I beat the hell out of) and they performed quite well: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Fuzion-TOURING-205-60R16-92H-Tires/50578272?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=0&adid=22222222227038423390&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=80416378849&wl4=pla-177635901889&wl5=9018977&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=8175035&wl11=online&wl12=50578272&wl13=&veh=sem
Sorry the links are Walmart, just the 1st I clicked on.

Counterpoint:
Stay with the taller sidewall, they ride better.
205/60r16 is a short enough sidewall they don’t deflect much unless pushed really hard.

I’ll add another vote for the Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06. I’m on my second set on my A4. Every time I see a car wearing ‘em I know the owner gives a shit.

I third this. Had a set on my old Integra and loved them. Wet performance is not the best, but they are great in the dry and the price is right. They also lasted quite a long time considering a 19yo was chirping tires from every stoplight haha.

Relatively speaking

The biggest problem is just cost. Actually decent all seasons are more expensive than halfway decent summer tires and don’t really last a whole lot longer. The only advantage they get is not murdering you in the snow lol. I’d rather just run summers and then not drive on snowy/icy days. Cheapo A/S tires on cheapie steelies as backups if you REALLY have to take the car someplace.

I recommend pneumatic pressurized, preferably a vulcanized rubber compound or synthetic polymer. Kevlar and nylon reinforced. Round is a good choice.

Square tires suck, triangles are worse, hexagonal are a bit better, round seems to provide the best overall ride comfort and stability.
