Some samples of what the new shop is sending me they are going to replace struts & towers in front, idler arm, and do an oil change. He says I have a small oil leak that he said to wait until we have to do something that has us tearing it down more.
Thinking about doing the rear brake shoes myself.

Observation:
OBVIOUS SCRATCHES
MAKE CUSTOMER AWARE
Ouch, man...I know my car has scratches, no need to rub it in my face. lol

My parents system works much like this and customers absolutely love it. They feel like they are part of their cars repair rather than it just magically being better when they get it back. You would be amazed at how much Toyota and Lexus owners care. They are often very analytical and love seeing why they are spending money.

They probably do that so you don’t try to blame them.

Those ALL CAPS REALLY MAKE IT SO VITALLY IMPORTANT TO HOW THIS CAR IS GOING TO RUN!
That alone would make me want to yell back at someone: YOUR PRICES ARE TOO DAMN HIGH FOR YOU TO BE ABLE TO AFFORD THIS SOFTWARE THAT YELLS AT ME!

Oh man, if I brought my father’s plow truck into a place like this...
TAILGATE MISSING TRIM, DIFFERENT COLOR, AND HELD ON WITH WHAT LOOKS LIKE 3/8 BRAIDED NYLON ROPE - MAKE CUSTOMER AWARE
FRONT GAS TANK HAS NOTE INSIDE FUEL DOOR ‘DO NOT USE’ - ASK WHY
RUNNING BOARD / STEP HOLDING ON BY A THREAD - STAY THE HELL AWAY
BED MADE OF 40% BONDO - DON’T SNEEZE ON IT
SEAT BELT MOUNT FALLING THROUGH FLOOR - I CAN’T EVEN

You best get them battery pads, stat. How this vehicle is able to move forward under it’s own power without asploding is beyond me.

What did the estimate for shocks and springs come out to. Want to know how close my guess was.

I’m glad I’m not only one who wanted to declare a state of emergency over that.

Holy shit man that’s some sophisticated ass covering right there.
The battery pads just made me roll my eyes so hard. If you remember can you have them explain why you need them? If this were an OBDII car I’d really want to know why think it’s a big enough issue that you should clear the memory in order to put felt pads on the battery.

What system is? I’ve never seen this before and as a tech who’s run several shops I’d like to know more.

They use Auto Vitals. Every technician has an iPad mini and the front desk has an iPad that all have the app on it. When something is new it can be emailed by the front desk to the customer to sell a job such as “this is what your axel boot looks like/what it should look like. Do you want to drive on this dangerous liking axle boot or have us replace it” but they say it much nicer.

I think that’s much better than pull a Jiffy Lube and going into the waiting room with a dirty valve cover and shoving it in the customers face.
I would just like that sort of system for an ass saving measure: “See we took all these pictures and sent you a new email each time and you declined each time? We’re not liable for your family’s death because you didn’t want to do any work.”

We use a similar system. It’s pretty great. Customers even get links to their estimate online and can approve or deny work themselves without ever talking to an advisor. Cause, correction, and prices all listed for them to easily understand with a green box to approve and a red box to decline.

We use Autopoint/MPI. Very similar and works great.
