apparently a tesla stopped doing as it was told and hit another car, ran over a cyclist and some dude on a scooter.... police say it was due to a technical issue..... no word on if autopilot was involved... could this be the first case of teslas getting a taste for human blood.... or just another driver trying to bullshit his way out of being to blame
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
(you’ll need google translate again.. as the few english dutch news sites i know never pick up on shit i want to share when i want to...)

im not saying it couldn’t have been a flaw with the car, but I am saying its probably still the drivers fault.

“autopilot” lol
Funny how these have such a techy pretense, but are magnets for those who have a microwave blinking 12:00 24/7.

Could just be the law of averages — my folks were over there about 6 months ago and saw more Teslas in the first 5 minutes than their total sightings after a decade in the US. More of a specific type of car = more of them involved in collisions.

there is that... but normally police are more than happy to blame it on the driver... so its odd having them say it was because of a technical problem

After the last few major cases people have realized they can’t blame autopilot so now it’s because “the car has a mind of its own”

most likely (but what if it really does? O.o)
(the ghost in the machine is real)

So is this an acceptable answer now? “I wasn’t driving?” That seems like saying, “I was on the cellphone and didn’t see it...”
Well, sir...if you can’t be bothered to drive then I recommend you take the train.

Whoa, let’s not jump to the most likely conclusion, now...

I’d like to deliver a sermon on the dangers of complacency, etc., but don’t really feel like fleshing it out. Y’all know what I’m saying.

article is a bit vague... but seems to be saying the car stopped responding to driver input and basically did its own thing
(does that sound like bullshit... yes... yes it does... but its odd for the cops to somewhat agree... so who knows)

Trains are electric over there anyway, so might as well! Overall less energy consumed, problem solved! Seriously, my biggest fear about the push for electric cars is that it will overshadow the need in the USA for massive improvements to mass transit systems. If there were public transportation convenient to my commute I’d be all over it!

Actually, I think reports like this usually include some sort of line like “police are investigating whether a mechanical failure might have been involved” , even when it’s a 90 year old lady that runs her Park Avenue through the door of the beauty parlor. Basically, if that’s what the driver claims, they at least have to check it out and CYA in case the driver is right.

The Model S is probably the most common North American built car without a European badge here. And also probably the best selling American brand car, if you exclude Ford of Europe products. A car you can see every (other) day, although it’s not extremely common either.
