I was up and out the door before sunrise for the first time in... *counts months*...three years? What a strange feeling. Here, check out this awesome completely see-through Miata hard top. Yay or neigh?

That cover captures so much heat due to a greenhouse effect that Al Gore is making a movie about it.

Where are all the pixels in that second photo?
And if you want to get up before sunrise (in the winter, at least), move to the prairies! I could get up at 8.30 and it was still dark.

UV filter, but yeah still. Wouldn’t be ideal for certain climates!
I still want to see if it will clear my hardtop. For reasons

Lol lazy screenshot.
I love dark mornings. Unfortunately I’m firmly entrenched in the “night owl” lifestyle so it’s rare that I see them. We don’t get the super late sunrises in Seattle, but we do get sunset at 4ish around wintertime.

For the past month and a half I’ve been working 6-5:30 pretty much every day and prior to the time change last weekend I’d be headed to work in the dark and home as the sun was setting. Why does the daylight hurt my eyes?

Right? I keep imagining how great it would be during a rainy winter day though, being able to escape the miniscule soft top window and5have good visibility....

My thoughts exactly! But... I think the Blue color isn’t doing it any favors

That hard top reaches too far back and to the sides, making it look half-assed. It should end right at the tonneau lip, not behind the frankenbolts.

might work better or a black one... but tbh.. that thick rubber seal around the bottom bothers me quite a lot

Didn’t catch that, good point. Hopefully this is just a pre-production unit. As crazy as it looks, I’m genuinely interested in it for rainy season in Seattle assuming the price is right

They should include see-through wraps using the material used for advertising signage on windows, so it’d look close to the factory hard top on the outside (or display custom graphics), while still allowing passengers to see through from the inside.

Genius. Agreed, that would be awesome.

Maybe in some climate that isn’t the high desert, because a miata doesn’t have a powerful enough A/C to drive with that on 9 months of the year.

The scratches on that hardtop will drive you nuts after a week.

Besides the UV/greenhouse effect stuff, my major concerns in trying to keep the top as scratch-free as possible and preventing it from hazing over time like NB headlights. My best thoughts are getting in wrapped in the protective vinyl that’s so popular these days or shooting a few coats of clear over it.

Love it but it’ll get damn hot on anything other than a cool day
