Oppo it has been a while since I’ve posted here. I’ve checked in from time to time but haven’t been much of a contributor in almost a full calendar year For the first time in about 10 years I’ve kept a car til the 1 year mark. Can’t really complain much about the car but it feels weird not switching things up. For reference this is my current vehicle:
I’ve put about 17k miles on it with no issues at all. It’s performed admirably in any weather or road condition. Taxes are on their way to my account soon and I’m debating on whether to keep the GTI or move onto something else.
The thought of a RWD coupe has been bearing down on me recently. Would love to have one before life’s responsibilities of a wife and kids weigh me down. The only thing is I have family ride with me from time to time so the back seats have to be livable which has me leaning in the direction of a Challenger.
But at this time I’m considering any RWD vehicle as long as it is rewarding to drive. If it’s automatic it has to be a great gearbox and not a lazy one, preferably DCT.
Anyway Oppo what do you think? Spend money and mod or abandon ship for my next adventure before my budget gets locked down?

Please do not sell that car. Before you take the ‘plunge’ and spend your hard-earned cash on a new vehicle, might I suggest a stage 1 or 2 tune for that GTI?

As an owner of a 2017 MK7 R stage 2 full bolt-on, I would highly recommend the stage 1 tune for your MK6. It will feel like an entirely new car - and open up a world of performance tuning that you possibly hadn’t considered before.
For a relatively small investment, you’ll be embarrassing cars that easily cost twice the MSRP of yours. Give that some thought before you jump into a new car payment.

E92 335is with a DCT or 6mt. Back seat is actually adult sized and they are tons of fun.

A voice in my head keeps telling me that I need a Mustang GT convertible 6MT.

That one has been heavily in consideration as well. They’re wickedly fast from factory. I’d love a 135is but would then need a back up vehicle for those times I have others riding with me.

Just Buy The Damn Challenger!
That said, a year and 17k is the longest you’ve kept a vehicle in 10yrs? Jesus I must be doing it wrong.

My first car I had for 15 months and put 55k on it. I guess that was when you have that new found freedom you make excuses to drive. Think I’ll go and test drive a Challenger this weekend.

I think the shortest I’ve ever owned a car was 1 year. Ohh, scratch that, owned my 66 Electra for 6 months. I was forced to sell that one due to money issues though (read broken 6.0 PS), otherwise it would still be in my driveway.
I tend to find vehicles I like, or make them into something I like, so I keep them around a long time. My current stable will likely be with me until they are no longer safe for the road (good thing I have steel and a welder).
The Challenger is a really great car, even in V6 form.

That’s the route I’m considering. Getting the tune, intake and exhaust. Also it’s about time to replace my brakes so considering just upgrading them as well.

How about you keep the GTI, get it paid for (if it isn’t already) and then keep it and add something fun at that point? You’d have the GTI for DD and responsible duties and could have something fun for hooning.

My awesome wife let me buy this RWD vehicle RIGHT AFTER our miracle child son was born! It’s been a nice addition to the fleet.

Would love to have one before life’s responsibilities of a wife and kids weigh me down.
Is why my last 2 cars have 2 seaters and am currently in a convertible. Don’t know what life will bring later but I can be impractical now.

I’d say do it. They’re getting cheap and I absolutely love my 335i.
