Don't lease with FCA

So I’m reaching the end of my lease with the Fiat 500, and now I’m dealing with the insanity of the lease return process.

The dealer I got the car from can’t schedule me before the lease return ends, and the other local dealers are refusing.

Chrysler Capital suggests calling the next closest 20 dealers to me, which means I could have to drive to Philadelphia (I’m in Brooklyn) to do a lease return.

Holy fuck shit really?

You keep that POS, I don’t want it back.

Lease something better next time.

Or just go to the closest dealer and leave it in the parking lot.

You’re kind of doomed anyway. The standard FCA lease return process starts months before the term ends. You’re supposed to schedule an appointment for a vehicle condition evaluation where they will provide a repair estimate for any excessive damage. At that point, you can agree to the estimate and pay the charges, or make the repairs on your own. At that time, you make the appointment for the return.

Of course, if you’re like me, you waited until 3 days before it’s due and google “lease return jeep”. Shit.

That’s ridiculous- - I understand one local dealer refusing, but there should be a limit as to how much time/effort you should go through when you’re trying to return something that belongs to them.

Do they make this painfully clear at the start?? I have no idea how leasing works but that sounds like something the company is responsible to inform you of.

Leave it in their parking lot and cancel all future payments to FCA.

Or leave it burning in their parking lot.

How long does a lease return take? Why can’t you just show up and toss them the keys?

Just leave it in the most inconvenient spot on the lot at the dealer you bought it from, hand the keys to the front desk, and say “here, I’m returning my lease”

I just did the inspection. Can’t do the inspection more than 20 days before the lease return.

Tell the dealers that are refusing that you are looking to get into another lease, that will make them bring you in right away then you ditch them come deal time.

“Paperwork“.

I’ve done lease returns before with family for other brands. I’ve never seen anything quite like this.

I’ll bet if you show up with a decent whiskey and talk to a sales person you could alleviate that “appointment” bull.
