For instance I can almost guarantee this early 90's Pontiac smells like must, mildew and dampness.
What are some cars that just always have “that smell?????”

Yes absolutely. I smell the sickly sweet fast food and farts smell of old cloth interiors.

Don’t forget that uniquely musty odor of mentholated cigarettes.

I’ve been driving a loaner civic for the past month because my car is broken. The (generous! thank you!! but still ffs) owners are not car people so the cupholders look like the kind of puddle you’d find in a city street and all of the plastic within a few inches of them is sticky. I’d clean it but I feel like that’d ruin some kind of science experiment or whatever the idea is here...

That is disgusting. Every old Honda I’ve been in has been exactly like that though.

I can always pick up on the 90s car smell. I can’t always place it, but when I do it usually smells like the little tree air fresheners and a bit of burnt oil.

Old GM cars have a smell. No idea how to describe the smell but it’s a thing. Just like old German cars smell like crayons.

My godfather’s Triumph saloon left an odiferous trail that smelled of whisky, well cared for leather and unburnt leaded petrol. Just seeing one these days (even a picture) throws that sensory memory right back at me...

Only old VWs have smelled like crayons from my experience. The rest have a nice old leather smell.

Chinese made cars have a certain smell.

My early 90s Pontiac smells entirely mediocre, thank you very much.
