For every cool car, I guarantee there’s somebody out there who doesn’t like it, probably for bad reasons.

I’d say you can write a very nicely worded message to this “FrontStreet” about your Sunchaser and why 80s cars are not ugly.

Totally, this looks like something you’d buy if you were, like, an attorney in Fresno. Your pool would be all green because you spend all your free time on the car. Just generalizing here.

I’m thinking like a “Better Call Saul” but with cooler cars.

1) Go to car show.

2) Take photos of interesting cars.

3) Write about how much they suck.

4) Be a miserable person. No profit.

Are you sodding kidding me, ‘a face only a mother can love’?

Screw them. Bunch of self opinionated a-holes.

They wouldn’t know a good looking car if it ran over them.

The Sunchaser is a modern day classic with a great balance of design, beauty, aesthetics and functionality than can be driven everyday.

If someone is going to write about a car, they should probably make sure they know what they’re talking about before they embarrass themselves.

I can’t for the life of me figure out how somebody could call this an ugly car. Certainly it’s not everybody’s cup of tea, but there’s nothing ugly there.

As the owner of what R&T consistently calls “the worst Ferrari”, I feel you. I’ve had an overwhelmingly positive experience so far as well. “Journalists” and keyboard warriors who’ve never driven the car just trying to make #content. Screw ‘em! Haha

Bingo. While I agree with most journalists opinions, one or two not liking “my car” has not spoiled the ownership experience for me.

I also find it comical how quickly newer cars are always better has taken over. The brilliant era of naturally aspirated, manual or hydraulic steering cars will always be more rewarding than the scalpel like weapons of today (for me).

I agree completely haha

On my way to work this morning, I was driving behind an M2, and that got me thinking about how much praise the car is receiving. I remember reading “future classic” and “revival of the 1M”. That last line always makes me chuckle because I remember reading reviews of the 1M, when new, and everyone seemed to discredit it. A lot of claims of under-steer, and BMW de-tuning the car so it wasn’t as good as the 3.

Conversely, the 348 received tons of praise when new and, for whatever reason, is getting hate because it’s slow, hard to drive, and outdated.

To me, that’s what makes the car fun to drive. Yeah, it’s not as fast as a new 488, but 300 HP in a sub 3000 lb car is more than enough for the street. Every control is heavy at low speeds, but sensational at higher speeds. It won’t save your ass mid-spin and doesn’t have a drift button, but that is OK. The car doesn’t need gimmicks. It just delivers an unfiltered driving experience, time after time. (And I think the cheese grater strakes or cooler than hell)

Sorry about that tangent, I just always have to smile and shake my head at how often these professionals flip flop LOL.

Yep. I had particular interest in their thoughts the M2 vs 1M, and after sampling both i find the high praised placed on the M2 to be a little undeserving. Steering sucks - plain and simple, electronic loses here to any 2009 and earlier BMW. Engine - nothing special here, no unique SXX treatment and it lacks any real character. The car FAST and planted, i will give it that, but not fun.

Furthermore, the modern layout is just   too busy. Stick on screens and gizmos everywhere. I almost signed on the dotted line for an M2, but in the first 10 seconds behind the wheel of a 1M I knew it was a more special car.

As for journalists. Chris Harris (whom I almost always side with) routinely mentions the 1M as superior to the Z4M. Hence why I had to sample a 1M - which after doing so I agree is a 100% better everyday do-it-all car. It does not do the fun 2nd car stuff nearly as well though.

I guess we have to keep in mind that magazines and number charts do sell cars to a certain brand of “enthusiast”. My friend’s dad previously owned 3-4 911s and every generation M5 yet is a firm believer in the latest tech. All is latest cars are SMG/DCT/etc. and his argument is that it is simply faster and better technology. Not sure how a guy forgets his 911 RS America stick shift experience so quickly but I will say his 458 italia is divine.

Waiting for the car price trend to take a dip so I can look at those desirable 80s/90s cars again...

I guess it’s all about what you are after. If you are constantly upgrading and looking for the next fastest thing, it makes sense. I will have a 458 one of these days but I want one for different reasons than my lowly 348. New cars are less engaged but they are certainly not boring. Maybe he is all about the new tech because he has “been there, done that” with the older things. Personally though, I would like to have one of both. Digital and analog, depending on the day.
