Ummm... you saw what the other RS owner on here was going through right? Congrats though, hopefully yours is trouble free :)

Trading torque steer for Headgaskets! Has Ford fixed that problem? Or is it still the same part? There’s an RS on turo near me and i really want to try it since it was only like $100 a day. I feel like it would make me dislike my STi though lol

ford has a fix out for the headgaskets. if he bought it from a ford dealer they likely had it fixed already

IIRC, Battery Tender Unnecessary also has one.

I know 6 RS owners personally, and all of them have been trouble free, and not all of them are stock.

It was replaced before it was put back on the lot for sale. The infamous head gasket monster only affected a small portion of the cars made. Read up on it.

It was just a dipshit mistake on the production line, a few RSs were mistakenly fit with the headgaskets from the 2.3 in the Mustang Ecoboost. The two engines are similar enough that the Mustang head gasket will appear to fit properly and bolt together correctly but the tolerances and cooling channels aren’t the exact same which causes issues later. All the RS’s that were fit with the wrong head gasket(less than 3% of production at the time the mistake was discovered) either already have blown up or have been fixed(if the headgasket was changed for the correct one before a failure there should be no lingering issues). Stuff like this should never happen but it’s just the case of someone in assembly grabbing the wrong box or a parts supplier mislabeling a box, not a design flaw with the RS itself.

Yeah I know haha. It’s sure to be a stigma/joke for quite some time though. It’s especially funny to me since my car had head gasket issues at some point in its life anyways, being a typical Subaru.

Congrats! I was thinking about buying a FoST or FiST a few months ago and the salesman convinced(okay, it didn’t take a whole lot of convincing) me to test drive a used RS that was on the lot barely in my price range. God damn, the STs were both good fun but the RS really does feel like something special. It was incredibly tempting. I ended up buying a Tacoma instead. Yeah, I know. I was split between something fun and practical or something less fun to drive but much more capable and better for racking up miles bc I drive a ton. Practical pants won this time but when I have space for a second car I won’t need to even give practicality a passing thought and that’ll be fun.

What’s the fuel economy difference? Plus how much under 100 lbs do you have to be to fit in the RS seats? Congrats on the popper!

Seats are fine, but i’m pretty much a string bean (triathlete and marathoner in my spare time). I think the fuel economy will probably be in the mid to low 20’s. The ST was 26-28 mpg depending upon the tires (winter v summer). 4-wheel drive will do that. I even got 42 mpg on a road trip to Nashville in the ST, but that was being on two lane roads and not using the turbo.

I’ve personally tried the ST seats and idk that I can comfortably fit. Only 175 lbs 5’ 9” I used to bike and run a lot so I’ve got decent muscle in the thigh area and I swear the seat just about crosses my legs for me lol
