I finally got to spend a bit of time down at KAUS. Since you can only take so many pictures of Southwest 737s, I decided to experiment with some crops and slows shutter panning. My kingdom for some sunlight! It’s been a very dreary winter and spring.

The photos look much better on !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! than on Kinja.

What’s the last delta jet, is that a Boeing 757?

Pretty good variety. KBHM is 80% SWA 737, 20% other (almost entirely DAL 737 or AA CRJ models). Pretty bland.

My house is directly under the flight path for the executive airport nearby, which means a lot of Citations and the occasion Global Express or something else taking auto executives to/from Germany or Mexico.

It’s not bad. The observation spot is on the east side of the airport, next to the shorter of the two runways. So anything heavy will always land on the far side and out of range. This is also the GA runway. KAUS is growing rapidly, and we have gotten a few new airlines in the pasts few years. We’ve got a daily BA 787 to and from Heathrow, and Condor is starting to fly to Dusseldorf (I think) in May.

Delta used to have a daily 757 between Austin and Atlanta, but I think they replaced it with this A321. I haven’t seen the 757 since the fall.

Interesting - that King Air is owned by Texas DOT.

Great pics!

I got to ride in a new Delta A320 with full infotainment system, I think it’s like the Audi airplanes. I really like it, but I wonder if it will hold up to the abuse they put airplanes through.

I got though half of Blade Runner 2049, and enjoyed the flight tracking software on the seat back screen.

I’ve always been a Boeing fan, but I’m seeing fewer of them these days.

Thanks! The TXDOT hangar is right next to the observation site. So you will often see King Airs and TX DPS helicopters that operate from there.

If you get bored, pour yourself a nice glass of something and take a look at some of my other work . I’ve been at this seriously for a few years now, and I think that the improvement is noticeable if I may say so. The last air show and the last three or so airport trips are finally starting to get to where I want to be with this hobby.

I finally flew in one of SWA’s “flagship” planes on Monday. It was Maryland One and looked super cool! Still hoping I can fly in the CA flag plane soon.

Every single Boeing jet in DL’s inventory is less comfortable than it’s closest DL Airbus equivalent:

A330-300 > 777-200

A330-200 > 767-400

A321 > 737-900

A320 > 737-800

I’ve not flown one of DL’s tiny fleet of 737-700s, but my guess is I’d like the A319s with the new interior better too.

Some 757-200s are on their way to be beer cans, but most have been getting overhauled including a large batch this winter. My guess is they’ll be back this summer.

My opinion is based on nothing other than nostalgia. And proper steering wheels. Side sticks are for fighters. Though I have been told by an A320 pilot that there is nothing more civilized than having your lunch tray on your lap at 36,000 feet.

Glad to hear that you like it. The folks who got those systems on the planes worked hard. They hold up pretty well and we have a good group of folks who keep them up.

You will live the A350. I was aboard one at Air France prior to them installing the interior. It is a big beast.

You might see some interesting Delta hardware in town for SXSW.

By “interesting,” are you dropping a hint? Also, have you guys replaced the 757 on this route with the 321?

I’m going to try to get down there a couple more times this week. Also lots more GA traffic this week.

We are running shuttles from Somewhere. Saw something in the marketing stuff.

Not sure if the 757s will be back to AUS or not on a regular basis. They tend to be running longer legs now.

My one gripe is that I was in an aisle seat and the middle seat passenger got my full arm pit in face in order for me to turn on the light or adjust the air vent that was seemingly 5 feet away.
