20 years ago today...

I didn’t see it in the movie theatre but I rented it from Blockbuster when it came out. I was in high school and my life forever changed! There are very few things in this world that are absolute perfection but....The Big Lebowski is one of them!

we watched this movie so many damn times in high school, usually (always) while drinking. I never remembered the end until I was well into my 20s haha, basically I knew Donnie died as so many young men of our generation did, but couldn’t remember the details. I also ended up with 5 copies when I left college somehow.

I was a latecomer to that movie olympus having watched it a couple of years ago. It quickly became one of my favorites.

Whilst doing a little research on it I discovered the Church of the Dude, otherwise known as Dudeism. I decided to join since it didn’t involve any time or money, and have been ordained as a Dudeist priest (or minister or whatever the hell I want to call myself). Apparently I’m allowed, in a number of states, to perform weddings and stuff like that. Works for me...

I’m an ordained minister in the Church of the Latter Day Dude as well. I did it specifically so I could preside over the wedding of a friend of mine.

Unfortunately, my home state doesn’t recognize it as a religion so I can’t wed people here, but we just went 50 miles south to a state that does.
