As some of you know, I work in claims. I have toyed with the idea of posting claims that I work on that pertain to cars, but have refrained for many reasons.

This claim, however is vague enough and noteworthy enough to share. I received this only minutes ago. I do claims for quite a few police forces.

Loss description:

“Claimant alleges vehicle damage when a flashbang distraction device that was thrown towards a suspect vehicle accidentally struck the windshield and deployed”

I know a Marine who lost a couple of fingers when a flashbang malfunctioned in his hand. They were on a mission in Iraq. When he released the spoon the flashbang detonated instantly instead of having a delay.

I actually saw a different, but very similar one, driving around town one morning on my way to work. Stopped at a light and a tank with POLICE printed on the front approached from the opposite direction and stopped at the same light. We were both making left turns, headed in opposite directions, otherwise I would have made a better effort to snap a picture. I didn’t want to whip out my phone whilst we were facing each other and risk a flashbang through my sunroof.

Delta has a fairly high flash bang detonation per capita, from what I hear.

New West could probably stand to increase their numbers though.
