Just leaned down to pet my 13yo golden retriever and noticed a new tumor. She has a handful of the fatty masses on her body, all relatively normal. This one doesn’t look normal though.

All the others are uniform in color, this one clearly isn’t. This also sprung on us very quickly, we pet her all the time and have never seen or felt this.

It’s about the size of a golf ball, for reference. I’m in a hell week at work, but will be taking her in to be checked out later this week or beginning of next week. She’s been slowing down a lot the last 6 months, so I’m not sure how willing we will be to go for treatment given that she otherwise has maybe a year left anyway. It’s going to be a tough decision.

We’ve had our pup since she was 6 WEEKS old. Truly an amazing dog for my boys. I’m praying it’s nothing, but certainly not hopeful.

Prayers go out to doggo. Doggo don’t need this.

That blows, I had to put my dog down over a year ago. Had him for over 16 years and that was the toughest decision I’ve ever had to make. Luckily pot is legal here which really helped out with my depression. The best cure for it was adopting two other dogs that were scheduled to be out down that week, so it was bittersweet.

Man, the ankle, work and now this. One of my dogs had a tumor on her leg that we were able to remove twice to keep it in check, but ultimately her age and the continual decline in quality of life meant that we had to say goodbye. No matter the age or the condition, that is never easy. It helped us to think about what things did she enjoy doing that she wasn’t doing anymore? What is quality of life for her?

Here is hoping that this is not the time for that decision for you.

I know those feels, man. It’s never easy to say goodbye to your best friend like that. I hope you get good news from the vet.

I hate to see that for anyone. Lost my golden last year on Labor Day. Big guy was 15. He had some fatty masses on his belly but I don’t think any were quite like what is pictured here. Hopefully nothing too serious though and your girl will get a clean bill of health at her next check up.
