Blowing snow plus living on the top floor means I have five feet worth of snow to shovel off the balcony tonight. Could be worse.

THe east side of the divide is getting hammered this year. They are putting together relief efforts for portions of the Blackfeet reservation. There are people who have been drifted in for close to a month.

What is 5ft in normal units?

My first North American ancestors (on my mom’s side) settled in Saskatoon around 1890. They only stayed a couple years. I think I know why.

We’ve talked about that before, actually. Totally understand why they did.

I know CB is in Canada... That’s why they should embrace the Metric system!

Regardless of units, measuring your tears is pretty weird.

I’m not certain it’s as wierd as measuring with inches or feet or yards...

I was born in the United States of Freedom and I despise SAE units. I get frustrated and mad anytime I have to use them. I only own one set of imperial sockets and I have never used them.

Canada uses a seemingly haphazard mix. Metric for anything you purchase, like fuel or food. Imperial for most everything else, like your personal height and weight, any measurements for construction-like projects, etc.

They use feet for construction? Why? its like fifty times harder to do everything!

Old habits die hard, I guess. The only time you’ll see metric used anywhere near construction here is if you’re referring to a jug of some liquid. A quart would be a liter, a gallon 4L, but a 55 gallon drum is still a 55 gallon drum afiak. Aside from that, it’s all inches and square feet pretty much.

I wish I had snow.
