I’ve seen the before/after pictures but I’ve always been a little skeptical. I’m not a skeptic any longer. It works just as well as it says it does on the box.

Mrs. Shoe Pilot got a 2003 Honda Element yesterday to pick up where the wagon left off. Being 15 years old, the headlights were kinda tired looking. 189K miles worth of abrasion plus 15 years of sunlight had exacted a price. 30 minutes of work w/ the 3M kit and now they look brand spanking new and kinda make the rest of the car embarrassing.

works good as long as the oxydiation isn’t on the inside of the lens. Stupid Xenon lights and their high Uv quotient.

Restored lenses have a way of oxidizing again quicker than you might expect, but if you throw a little polish on them from time-to-time they’ll stay looking good.

They do work nicely. My brother cleaned up the headlights on our ‘04 mazda3 and they are now the most valuable looking part of that car.

The meguiers kit is a winner too. I think they are both the same price, or close enough.

The trick is to put a coating on to give the lights UV protection otherwise the headlights will oxidise again but much quicker.

Waxes and sealants will over some protection but a coating will offer three to five years protection in one application.

I have had mixed success with headlight kits having had a few different 540i’s over the years to experiment with and the thing that seems to make all the difference is the drill you use. Corded is best. The more power you have the better the results. Anecdotal but I stand by it.

I didn’t think to take before pics. The after pics look like brand new lights.

I bought a Porter Cable orbital polisher since the time I used this kit. I recently used the polisher to do a touch up, and it was so much less work than the original run with the kit. I don’t know what it would have looked like without that initial sanding, though.

Indeed. A quick polish is all it takes to keep them nice once they’ve been restored.
