The Carrera, one of my smartest purchases, they are around $5250 on the Hodinkee Shop, I got it for around $2500 last year.

Very nice. I almost never buy a watch at retail price anymore.

Where did you get it for such a fair price?

Just got it from high street shop, with warranty, box and papers.

I am just now realizing how very broke I am

I never quite understood watch culture.... But then again, I’m the kind of caveman that would bring distilled alcohol to a dinner party rather than wine so... I am comfortable in my trashy, classlessness

I’ve never been a fan of watches with lots of extra complications. I prefer just having my time on the watch. Skagen’s Jorn is sort of the style I like.

That’s not a Porsche silly, that’s a watch.
Seriously though I have a special place in my heart for Breitlings but I cant afford it, just like Porsches.

It’s kinda like car culture, we like mechanical things, some watches are plain vanilla quartz, some are cool quartz watches with a cool history, some are just posh nicely built automatic watches, some have massive complications akin to a turbo’d W16 or V10. And they are very much connected to most of Mankind’s greatest activities: Flying, Diving and Racing.

I like older Breitlings, which is why I have this Auto Shark. But the new ones are too brash IMO.

Only watch I’d buy would be the Uniform Wares... Not sure which one

Congrats, very nice purchase! Understated but fancy. A Carrera is on my radar as well as my next watch but realistically that’s a year or more out. My Tissots (and more commonly Fitbit) will do for now.

Beautiful watch! I have been wanting to splurge on a Breitling SuperOcean or Omega Seamaster from Crown & Caliber but saving money for a GT-R is more important...even if the cash is burning a hole in my pocket!
