One more question: Does Toronto’s Pearson International airport have a duty free store where I can shop before entering Canada?

Immoving to Canada in the next few days.

Is there any benefit in buying alcohol at the airport duty free? If so, how much cheaper is it?

If there is quite a difference in price, I might pick something up.

It is your duty to join the RCMP.

This reads like “I’m going in for surgery tomorrow, should I bring my own candy or just buy it from the hospital vending machine?”

Lol, just teasing you, but I doubt there will be enough difference to matter in the scope of, you know, emigrating to another country.

Except Iceland. $9 beers are insane.

The 15 year import ban is not a good reason to move.

Those canadians with their beady little eyes and flappy heads, not to mention their tendency to occupy the fast lane.

Cooless! Can’t help with your question, but moving here permanently, or temporarily? Whereabouts? :)

I’m British so can’t say for certain but check with the Canadian Border Services Agency how much you can bring in if you intend to buy your alcohol on the U.S. side as you’ll be liable for Canadian taxes if over the limit or have to surrender the alcohol.

First port of call should be the CBSA to be honest because anything you take to the border to cross with is your responsibility and liable for.

It varies by provinces.

In Ontario, beer and wine isn’t crazily priced, if anything wine is cheap because of local production. Spirits are really expensive.

Moving permanently.

I’m going to be in Toronto for now. I’m still looking for jobs, so I’ll move where I find employment.

If you are in the GTA, let me know!

Its not the 15 year ban, but America’s messed up immigration lottery systems that did me in. Join me in Canadia!

No worries. I’m on the other side of the pond so can’t say for sure but the CBSA should be your first port of call.

How long are you moving there for?

Just working or emigrating?

In my defense, I do bring my own candy to hospitals lol:D

You’re right. It makes no difference in the grand scale of things.

But since I’m unemployed, I figured I’d get shitfaced more practically lol

I did the same thing in Singapore. Saved like 40% off a bottle of Glenlivet at the Duty free. Singapore taxes the crap out of all the good things.

Nope, Nova Scotia for me, so I am a long distance off, sadly...but quite a few Oppos are in the Southern Ontario area, including Reidus and Cletus, Peter Black SV, CB, Canuck and a few others! (Oppos, let me know if I’ve made a mistake on that!) Really wish I was closer to you folks!

Good luck on the job hunt and welcome! :)

I wish you all the luck in your endeavours and in advance, welcome. I can’t speak for the other 2.3billion people in the Commonwealth of Nations, but from me, welcome.

Lucky, one of the things I miss about living close to the border with British North America was the easy access to the good version of Havana Club.

Emigration to the northern wastes is appealing but there are some significant barriers to entry for me.

A 24 pack of domestic beer is something like $60 in BC. Bring as much as you can while you can get it for cheap.

If you drive through the states in bc plates either be going 20 over the speed limit or stay out of my way.

When I flew into Toronto about a year ago there was not a duty free on arrival, just a very long walk to customs. Come to think of it, I don’t think I’ve ever seen one on arrival, it wouldn’t make sense. Duty free gets you out of the tax of the place you are leaving.
