I saw a clean yellow Celica. I am strained personally. Professionally, I am beleaguered. This is a high point. I am not good at leaning on others. I am an individualist.

Man do I know the individualist thing... The fact that my favorite phrase as a toddler was “all by myself” turned out to be foreshadowing of working myself into a career where I work almost entirely on my own (and with things, not people).

I don’t know if this was the first car with a silver bit in the bumper made to look like an exhaust tip, but when I first noticed it I thought to myself “wow that is so god damn stupid. Why would anyone do that. I know it’s OEM, but that only makes is worse. What a stupid decision on Toyota’s part. There’s no way anyone will be stupid enough to copy that idiotic design.”
Now 12 years later it’s hard to buy a car that DOESN’T have a fake exhaust tip built into the bumper.

Sounds like my kind of job. Any more positions open?

Oh crap, a Celica Tsunami! I completely forgot those existed!

Sadly, no. The archival field is a hard one to get into initially. Every search committee I’ve been part of for entry-level positions has had around 100 qualified applicants that we go through, and the university doesn’t even offer good pay.
