So I decided to go visit my mother on a weekend day, and hopped into my 2010 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor — actually, you know what? Let’s just call it the Interceptor — and drove 111 miles for two hours.
It was a good drive. On I-5 going northbound, I got to give the Interceptor a chance to really stretch her legs at 85 MPH while I was passing slower traffic in the far left lane in a 70 zone. Of course, I did not sustain those speeds - if I remember right, the rules of the road state that you may not exceed the speed limit for longer than is necessary.
Given that this was a $3,300 used car that served the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department until 2016, I’m amazed that it hasn’t had any major issues after the engine swap the previous owner did.
What are the odds of a person’s first car being this rock solid?

Call it the Crown Vic P.I.

Nah, the Interceptor. I’m gonna look into getting a nameplate that drops the word “Police” from it, with the original styling.

Just chop it in half

Would technically work, but it wouldn’t look right. I’d rather have something a little shinier with more permanence.

There are a lot of police agencies still using the Crown Vics, so you could very likely maintain a high rate of speed in it for a long time without anyone noticing. And most people will see it with the push bar and spotlights and get out of the way.

I’m not trying to speed or break the law. Besides, Washington State Patrol cars are white, my car is aluminum. It’d be pretty obvious that I’m not a cop when I’m on the freeway. People around here aren’t as stupid as say, the average grandpa in the Midwest.

Just had a thought, what if I had it rebadged as the
Freedom Interceptor
?

Or you can make a joke nameplate:
“Cop Interceptor”

You would be shocked at how stupid the average person is. There is no difference geographically in IQ.
I didn’t say it looks like a State Patrol car, I said that with the obvious police hardware in place that people will get out of the way. You will also find that if you’re sitting in the right lane at the speed limit that your Crown Vic will become a rolling road block as people approaching slow down to figure out that you’re not law enforcement before passing you. Color matters very little when it comes to police vehicles, or the public’s recognition of them.
I’m never, “trying to speed or break the law,” but I hit 80 just driving to work. It’s not really that fast.

I believe you meant to say, “I always obey the posted speed limits”.

WSP uses a lot of not-white cars too. Even Camrys lately. I was pulled over just a couple years ago by a car that looked just like yours.

I mean, my first decent car was a BMW 540i/6, and I had that thing maxed out to 155mph within the first month of owning it, haha. Since then I’ve amassed 3 speeding tickets, and I’ll probably have a few dozen by the time I’m 30. I’m okay with that though.

We accidentally got the hearse over 90 during Lemons, just because of it’s smooth floaty ride and our not paying attention.
