When the Pacific Northwest blues have you down.
Remember that Hawaii isn’t that far away.

We saw sky today. Blue sky. Direct sunlight. It was the weirdest thing and we (my wife and I) were really enjoying this odd, brief, sensation of feeling it fall upon our skin.
I don’t think we’ve seen true direct sunlight like that in at least a couple months. It’s been continuously grey and drizzly for a while now.

My favorite spot in Hawaii is one of the wettest areas on Earth. I’m a desert rat, so rain intrigues me.

Kalalau trail in Kauai. I go to Kauai every other year and camp on the beech for a few weeks. Going back in this summer.

Given my weight that could wipe out tuna. Our first stop when we get to Maui is always Costco to get supplies and get some poke for the first night. It isn’t the only poke we have, to say the least.

Very cool. i have amily that goes to kauai every couple years, and always wanted to do this. How difficult was the hike? A couple locals made it sound like the trail was one the edge of 2k foot cliffs.

The hike isn’t an ass kicker, but it is fairly dangerous in spots. The trail is extremely slippery and you are on the edge of 1k ish foot cliffs in some spots with the ocean at the bottom. There’s a section where you have to crawl on hands and knees on the edge of a waterfall. If you’re deep into the trail and you get hurt or fall you’re going to be in trouble as even an air evac would be difficult. I’ve hiked a good portion of it with a kid on my back but knew when to call it quits. I believe they require a permit to go all the way to the secluded beach. I believe part of the trail is closed right now because of mudslides.
