3D print one for your DD.

Ooo! What should I put on my Fiesta?

Nor were the Pontiacs and the DeSotos, with their crazy ones. Nor later on was this:

My dad’s a master silversmith, I wish he’d not given it up entirely when he semi-retired, but he was burned out on the family business. He could engrave stuff like this, just incredible artistry. I encouraged him to keep the tools and take on occasional custom work, like hot rod and motorcycle parts or old western stuff, to no avail.

3d-printing would definitely be an asset: print a blank with most elements taken care of in design, do hand-engraving or polishing, plate, etc. Unfortunately, the best tool to 3d-print with would probably be an electron beam 3d printer like the Arcam A2x, which is $250,000. SLS systems capable of handling metals seem to still be in the six figure range as well, and the best machine for the resolution to make a good mold piece and still be plastic would be an SLA machine, still multiple thousands.

On a fiesta, possibly a stylized salamander on fire.

It should be. Actually, I worked with Agrajag like a year ago on coming up with an idea for a hood ornament for the Lincoln I hope to cast+engrave+plate. Got the plans for it, haven’t done it yet.

I’m adding that to the sign. “Fritch and Ramblin’s Hot Rods, Motor Abominations, Janky Wheels, Hand-Made Panels, and Custom Engraved Brightwork”

In. I’ll get dad into it somehow, and if that fails, my cousin is picking it up.

I wanted to, but he needed to sell them, money was tight at the time and I couldn’t afford what they were worth. Really high quality stuff, decades old. Still in use with local jewelers, as far as I know.

That is too bad. Those tools would be handy quite often I am sure. My Mom’s ex-fiance was able to keep all his dad’s automotive metal working tools. He let me use them in the Sprite when I was fixing body work. They have been around since the 40's or something like that.
