I got my second ticket there last week. $160 for just 10 over. I was doing 55 in a 45. Guess what the limit was on either side of the city limits? Yup - 55. Any bigger city would have let me off with a warning, but this is just how they get all of their revenue.

Small towns in the South are the worst. They won’t let the troopers do their jobs and instead try to collect revenue for themselves.

Ouch. Last time I got pulled over I was doing 68 in a 55, and only got a warning. And it’s was starting to snow!

That’s about right. Some small town in South Alabama are along 2-lane roads, but are still major thoroughfares for people from places like Chicago who have been driving all day, only to be caught off-guard by a 55/45/35 drop in just a half mile. My last ticket was 16 over, $210, in a poorly marked construction zone with absolutely no construction underway.

Of that, $180 was fixed court costs, so I would have been fighting over $30.

We always used to get off at the Evergreen exit to head back to Florida. The area around Brewton always had “Road Work” AKA didn’t move the signs when they were done, and cops would abuse that.
