500hp for under $20k.
I’ll nominate the first batch of MB CLS63 AMGs. What do you have? Show me your bad idea.

Just literally any larger mercedes amg from the mid 00s or a chevy ls with some bolt ons.
After we get those out of our system and the literal racecars,
Then the list gets interesting

Modified LS cars, large 00s Mercedes AMGs and V10 BMW M cars aside...

This was less that $20k...

I would have said R63, but haven’t see one listed under $40k yet. Apparently the Hot Rod Minivan holds it’s value.
Or none of them are selling and people just keep listing them anyway.

Hold on, hold on, hold on, 700 hp, wall.

This and some mild modifications.

Even if a first-gen CLS AMG were half that price, I’d pass.
It looks like a cockroach, and I have to do some awkward gymnastics to get in and out of one without hitting/rubbing my head on the top of the door frame.
I’m gradually warming up to the idea of E-class ownership, including AMG models. There’s something inherently right and particularly Mercedes-like about the E-class that I don’t feel in every other mainstream M-B model, including the S-class.

Wait when did you get an s2000? Is the e39 gone?

I bet a built vq could do it.

Yeah, but the NA V8 is pretty cheap...

But they’re also pretty rare...I’d love to find one.

I think there were less than 100 sold in the US so good luck.

Yeah e39 sold right before thanksgiving, picked up this lady a few weeks ago. Been meaning to do a write up of that and the new stuff in the garage, but the kinja interface is so hateful with embedded images that I haven’t bothered yet.
Down to FR-S, Miata, S2000, and a bunch of bikes now lol

I have a Motec m150 and a racegrade IMU doing traction control thingies, no walls here

Three of them live near me...I just need to find one and leave a note. All were originally manufacturer tags from the plant (40 miles away) and I assume they just held onto them...

Somehting I never thought of before - I assume that 6.2L AMG models built in Alabama have engines that were hand-built in Germany and shipped over?

Dude. Please post about the S2k!! I am convincing myself to buy one and sell either the 328i or the C300. Twin turbo 335i + n/a (and hopefully reliable) S2k is the perfect garage

Hand built here, to my knowledge. At least all the prior AMG V8 engines were (those I saw with my own two eyes circa 2001).

Interesting. All of the V8’s I’ve ever seen have a very German-sounding name on the plate. I’d love to see an ML63 with something like Hand Crafted by Jim-Bob Barnette or Julian Bautista or something like that.

Truth: West AL and the MB plant are heavily represented by African Americans. But mainly just that I always LOL at this Key and Peele segment.

It’ll be a little while before she’s running again, bought it as a bit if a project. I’ll be sure to do a write up once done.
And yes miata and 300+hp RWD car is the perfect garage, and everyone knows the s2000 is just the Miata for rich kids :p
