Yup, my wife’s stupid Audi does that too. It’s a combination of lazy design and penny pinching.

LOL... my sis’s roommate was complaining about this thing exactly on the Audi Q3. Basically we’re not allowed to touch the volume knob.

I have to agree with one of the comments. I suspect this quirk is intentional trolling by an engineer/designer. This is German sense of humor, I think.

My wife’s Mini has the same volume knob thing going on. Why does it need to have the power symbol at all? Pressing that knob to turn on/off a system is pretty intuitive, I think. Maybe because my E46 does it that way but without a silly symbol.
