So my wife’s Passat has a memory driver seat and it seems to have a mind of its own. It will randomly change positions - sometimes while she’s driving. That’s a safety issue. Can any VW people find for me the right fuse or relay to pull to kill power to the seat adjusters?

Under hood:

Under driver side dash:

Driver side fuse panel:

Passenger side fuse panel:

Thanks!

I’m guessing that th e fuse panel covers don’t have diagrams on the backside...   Do you have a manual that shows what they all go to ?

Owners manual is obtuse as could be when it comes to this. It’s like they expected people who bought $40k station wagons in 2008 would never work on their own cars.

There is a plug under a seat usually. However, while that’s providing power to the seat, i think it might also provide power to airbag weight sensor in seat. I don’t know if there is one in driver seat, but there has to be one in passenger seat

From the vortex..

Kinja'd!!!

2005 GLX

Found it. I called two dealers to see if they knew, they didn’t. one said it was fuse #5. Nope. So I looked under the dash where I figured there would be more fuses. There are lots down there, large ones... I checked them all... and had basically given up while I was trying to get to the two hardest to reach fueses. Voila! Two metal incased fuses, 20 amp I think, green labels, up high and to the left as you’re looking under the drivers side dash. It felt really good to find those puppies. I suppose they’re listed in the Bosch manual.

Also possibly;

39 - Fuse 39 (on fuse panel D) -SD39- 10A - Heated driver seat adjuster -E94- 2)

Try F4, at the very top of the relay panel under the driver’s side dash:

Kinja'd!!!

That should be driver’s seat, F3 should be passenger seat.

The post where I got that says that they’re circuit breakers, FWIW.

My friend’s 2004 Jetta TDI wagon has a sunroof that opens and closes randomly when it rains while driving. That’s an inconvenience; this is downright terrifying.

Fortunately, the fuse was identified and pulled from its circuit.

Oh, a VW with electrical problems?

What you’re gonna want to do is rip that shit out and throw some buckets out of a Mk3 in there. They’re extremely nice, if hard to find without tears or split seams.

Kinja'd!!!

But for real, I hope you get that sorted. Seat moving while driving is extremely dangerous, but having the fuse pulled is super inconven ient.
