Got a PR this morning at the Houston Half Marathon. A little less humidity would have been nice, but this is what we get in Houston. Been mostly laying on the couch and sipping a beer or two since I got home. Good day.

Awesome stuff. Anything close to 5 minute kays is sweet in my book.

Big runner? Done a full marathon? Many halves?

I can't imagine running 13mi in that humidity. Don't miss it one bit. Id take 10,000ft elevation any day.

I miss being able to run. You beat my PR by about 9 minutes though, good job!

Nice!  My last half, my goal was to slide in under 2 hours.  My time?  2:00:02.  #facepalm

Do 10k’s and half’s, with a 5k thrown in every once in a while. We (wife, father, sister, brother-in-law) try to do a 10k race a month, excluding July / August (because Houston). I’ve got another half in two weeks, then another half the second weekend in December (a trail race).

I am one of those runners that has not ever done a marathon. This year is the first time I’ve contemplated it, but the time needed for training is so much more than what I do now.

Interesting (to me) note on this. My Garmin 935 running watch registered 13.25 miles instead of 13.1. Now, it is common for it to not match the  race course exactly, and .15 miles over 13 isn’t bad. But I noticed during the race it was off by .1 after only a few miles. Map of my run from the Garmin app shows why. I did not make random loops through buildings in downtown Houston. Tall buildings definitely make tracking a little difficult.

Oh are these all organised runs? I can never really justify the expense, given I can just run solo and rather enjoy running solo. So I do the occasional organised run, and I’m a part of some groups that do free weekly/monthly runs.

I am the same, never a marathon. I did a 28km trail once. After 2 weeks living it up in Thailand. I was not ready, it was hard.

Yes, organized runs. It is a good excuse for all of us to keep in shape, and excuse to spend time with my family. I enjoy the extra little adrenaline I get from a “race” as well.

We are actually doing some destination runs now as well. We have done Disney ones twice, my wife did the “Ur ban Bourbon” half in Louisville two weeks ago, and we are looking at a couple next year.  There are some interesting ones in Maine / Vermont when the leaves change, and some in Colorado in the spring.

I suppose if it’s not solo it makes a bit more sense :)

Nice nice. I’m a big fan of trail runs. I like to see stuff and go places on my runs. I could never do a treadmill, and even the popular Melbourne Marathon appeals to me little.
