Yeah, I guess technically the FD could get to the hydrant...

Well, so much fo r the usual satisfying window smashing. But i f the process of hooking up the hose still involves having to damage one of these , I’d pick the Impala .

The Impala actually belongs to a co-worker of mine, just purchased a few months ago to replace his wrecked Malibu. The parking tickets around here are so relatively cheap ($15) that they don’t form much of a deterrent, and people just seem to accept them as the cost necessary to get a parking space close to one’s home.

At what point to you get annoyed by selfish acts like this and call parking enforcement? Unlike a lot of dumb laws, I can see a very good reason for laws regarding fire hydrants, and I’d be pissed if my house burned down because someone didn’t want to walk an extra 50-100 feet.

O ne of the places I worked in college had a single yellow striped off spot in front of our hydrant that you weren’t supposed to park in.  It was very clearly marked but folks would get towed out of it fairly routinely. The front lot was small but we had a large rear lot - they just didn’t want to walk the extra 200'...

Do you guys have restrictions on how close you can park to a stop sign?

Probably, but this place is kind of lawless, at least here in the city. Yield signs and right turn only lanes routinely ignored , red lights an optional thing especially late at night. But drive through the main streets of some of these tiny municipalities at more than the ridiculously low 25 MPH posted speed and you’ll be spending your Monday evening in a big courtroom that’s easily five times larger than the city hall.

Other towns are too busy shooting unarmed residents to bother with creating speed traps, that is if the residents don’t shoot each other first. And did I mention the drug dealers and people driving at night with the front of their car caved in with (obviously) no headlights?

Remind me again why I moved out here from SoCal? Besides the outrageous cost of living, cops that enforce the letter of the law and not the spirit, ridiculous traffic, natural disasters...

When I went into the office this morning, Parker, Ashley and the perpetrator were at their workstations. I greeted them by saying “Good morning Ashley , good morning Parker, good morning illegal p arker”...
