It is exceptionally yellow. The color is ridiculous and I love it. Other than that it’s an iPhone . It takes photos and makes posts exactly like the old one but maybe a little faster . Whatever. It’s just yellowerer now.

If it’s yellow, does this mean it’s a bananaphone

Yes

Of all posts to put up, a shitpost. Nice .
Let us know how it is. I’m not an iPhone guy, but I’m always interested.

I’m trying to get one from Sprint, but their online ordering process is stupid. I can’t have it delivered to my PO Box, so I tried getting it delivered to my work, but because my billing address is my PO Box they won’t send it to me.

My 5S has nearly died of old age. The XR is at the top of my list if it happens. But...not yellow.

Do the even support the 5s anymore?

My stepmother was a elementary school music teacher for 25 years. One day, she had a class that was being particularly unruly, and she looked up and saw a girl wearing a bright yellow jacket. She said, “Class! Stop being so yellow!” It is still a family joke.

Running iOS 12! I’m good until sometime in 2019, they say. Granted I only have room for like 4 apps at this point.

My concern about the iPhone XR is that it will go the way of the iPhone 5C — few will buy it and Apple will kill off support for it quickly.

I don’t really expect that. The 5C’s SOC was already a year old when it came out and it was sold for got 4 years of support (iOS 7- 10). The transition from 32 to 64-bit processors are what ended support for it. Since the XR has the same processor as the XS my guess it’s itll get around 5 years of support.

My 5S died of a swollen battery last month. It had been over 2 years since it saw use as a phone but I was taking advantage of its headphone jack to use as a jukebox with my home stereo and was actually pretty bummed when it gave out. I may buy a battery to try and resurrect it. I’m pretty happy with this XR so far. I like yellow but I get that’s it’s a weird choice.

I think everything running a 64-bit CPU is supported so A7 and newer which means some iPhones and iPads that are getting pretty old. The length of support is one of the things that keeps me sticking with Apple. My old 2007 iMac was supported all the way through 10.11 and my 2011 Air just got cut off this year with 10.14.

I know the pain. I bought all my phones through Verizon and it was always difficult until the iPhone 7 two years ago that I got in an Apple store. It’s so much easier to go through Apple that I’ve been doing it for all my family’s phones since then. But if the carrier is running a good special you can’t grab it there :(.

The low hanging fruit. I take it. I can do a follow up review in a while. Maybe it’ll be helpful. I’ve had so little exposure to Android in the last 2 years that it will pretty much just compare to other Apple hardware though.

I’m on Sprint’s “iPhone for Life”, which I guess is sorta like Apple’s. It’s just dumb. I tried doing a phone order and it was tedious, my wife was sending me texts and I was just like “I’m getting an emergency call, I have to go”, mainly because I had been on the phone long enough.

Honestly, compared to what you see on the Windows side, that Mac support doesn’t seem very good. On the other hand, they are clearly the leader in terms of mobile OS support. I’m still bitter about how quickly they killed support for the 1st-gen iPod Touch though (even though that happened like a decade ago) .

It needs some black racing stripes

I’m still running a 5 as my primary and only phone
. It needs a new battery, but otherwise it is still usable. I’m debating on throwing a new battery in it and
seeing how long it remains useful
.

“low hanging fruit”
“Apple”
I see what you did there.

My kids play around with a 4S that doesn’t have cell service and it works surprisingly well still besides the battery not holding up long. I’d be a bit hesitant to use anything older than a 5S just because I find TouchID (and now FaceID) too convenient for unlocking, passwords and mobile payments.

I’ve actually been thinking about some sort of die cut vinyl stickers on the phone body then a clear case over that.

That would look pretty sweet. It looks like a similar yellow to the 05 Ford GTs

The XR shares the same CPU/GPU and wide angle camera sensors as the X S/XS Max so it will have the same support from developers and Apple as the latest flagships.

Maybe I don’t know what I’m missing, but the lack of Touch ID doesn’t really bother me. I’ve never used Apple Pay, for example.
I’ve been quite happy with the 5, other than the two recalls early on. I tried out a 7 at the Apple Store recently, and realized how used to the size of my 5. Something I'd get used to over time, I guess.

My 5S had it’s screen slowly separating itself from the metal plating that insulates the innards of the phone from the outside world a month ago. I thought I’d take it as an opportunity to replace my battery inside it as it was getting close to difficult to get a charge to last a full day, with the battery losing its charge without even doing or connecting to anything.
Then, I pulled the screen off too hard (to get to the battery), thus ripping the cables connecting it to the board inside and decided, welp, fuggit, and bought a refurbished iPhone 7 off of Apple’s website with 128gb for $469 before taxes. Didn’t realize how much processing speed I was missing out on before, as well as having 2gb of RAM vs 1gb...loading any GMG website no longer took infinite seconds.

TouchID is awesome if you have a 10+ letter lock screen password as I’m required to. The size of the 6/ 7/8 is pretty easy to get used to IMO. Beyond that it can be too much. My personal phone for a year before the XR was an 8+ and i never really got used to it. Especially with an 8 for work to go back to. The XR is slightly smaller than the 8+ and I already like it better.
