As ttyymmnn can tell you from recent experience, flooding is a pretty serious problem, but this is just awful. This is like the Thai cave rescue, only much faster and much, much worse.

Man, that’s rough. Thing about our floods, though, is that we knew they were coming.

Yep yep. Documentary after documentary I have my mind blown by how sudden flooding happens in other parts of the world. Like, sure events like that one cave incident often have enough warning, but there are a lot of instances were stuff happens spontaneously.

Exactly. Flash flooding, particularly in arid parts of the world, can occur from a storm you don’t even know is there.

Arid places are more susceptible to flooding ironically. The gr o und gets so hard the water can’t absorb. Plus the likely hood of getting any rain is low so gutter/sewer/drainage isn’t put in.
A decent amount of water and no place to go, flash flood.

Yep. Had a whole family killed in a flash flood here last year. I got caught in a flash flood once. Hit the front of my truck so hard it knocked the serpentine belt off. This was in the middle of Tucson. One minute I was on a dry street and the next minute a wall of water was rushing over my hood.
