My FIL has a story about his buddy losing control of an old Chevelle and crunching a door, then going to another friend’s house in the middle of the night who happened to own a same-color-and-year Chevelle, removing theirs and swapping. The other person chalked it up to a hit and run and got it fixed by insurance, and both people had good doors again. It gets told again every year or so while drinking.
